- The Journey to the Western. The maker of "Dragonball" deliberately made it from the "Journey to the Western". It is a very famous Chinese myth. Notice even the main character Goku will turn into a gorilla (kind of like a monkey)... and he's fighting skills are spetacular like the monkey in "The Journey to Western".

- 29.

- none. Before Shinji, from "Evangelion" was born, his father said to his mother that if the baby was a boy, it'll be called Shinji, and will be called Rei if it was a girl.
![]() | Original Anime Quiz |
- Hoe?. Notice how Sakura from "Cardcaptors Sakura" says 'hoe' so often, even though it's not a word. :D
![]() | Anime Antagonists |
- Sakaki. Sakaki, who is the leader of the Rocket Dan (Team Rocket), was not present when Mewtwo erased the memories of everyone who had witnessed him. In "Mewtwo Returns", however, the powerful Psychic-type rectifies this mistake when Sakaki goes after him on his peaceful island retreat.
![]() | Anime Antagonists |
- Dragonball Z. The villain in question is Vegeta, the bad boy of "Dragonball Z". The goal mentioned here is to become a super saiya-jin... supposedly a status that can only be achieved by one with a pure heart. When Kuririn pointed this out, Vegeta explained that his heart was pure... pure evil.
![]() | Anime Antagonists |
- Inuyasha. The villain in question is Sesshoumaru, who is the title character's older brother. The Sword of Healing mentioned in this question is called the Tenseiga, while the destructive sword is the Tetsusaiga. Though Sesshoumaru is evil, in one episode he uses the Tenseiga to heal a little human girl that had been mauled by wolves. This was done in gratitude for the way she tried to help him when he was injured... of course; Sesshoumaru would never admit this to be true.

- Vocal. From "Violinist of Hameln", Vocal is a Duo Maxwell-style villain who was the only Mazoku (demon) with enough power to stand up to Great Demon Lord Kestra. To keep Vocal's power in check, most of his power was sealed away in a ball that is attached to a chain around Vocal's wrist. Whenever he gets the urge to try and kill a Mazoku the ball becomes unbearably heavy and he cannot move an inch.
![]() | Anime Antagonists |
- Midvalley. Umi is just the Japanese word for "ocean". Vocal is from "Violinist of Hameln" and looks like a male version of Morrigan from "Darkstalkers". Legato is from "Trigun", as is Midvalley, but Legato's main power is mind control and he was killed when Vash shot him in the head.
![]() | Anime Antagonists |
- Slayers . Rezo, who is known as the Red Priest, hails from "Slayers". His goal was to awaken the evil lord Shabranigdo.
![]() | Anime Antagonists |
- Karasu. Karasu, a member of the Toguro Team, is a master of explosives. He often disappears and reappears behind Kurama, playing with his hair and commenting on it. This drives Kurama up a wall, as he fears that Karasu is planting bombs in his hair. Karasu's name means "crow", which is befitting to him as crows were often seen as a harbinger of death.
![]() | Anime Antagonists |
- Sanosuke Sagara. Nicholas Wolfwood is from "Trigun", Vegeta hails from "Dragonball Z", and Jinto Lin is from "Crest of the Stars". The correct answer, however, is Sanosuke Sagara from "Rurouni Kenshin". Blaming the death of the Sekihoutai on the Imperialists, Sanosuke tries to kill Kenshin, who is a known Imperialist. After he is defeated, he realizes Kenshin isn't the bad guy and decides to join him.

- The Principality of Zeon. The main antagonistic organization from "Mobile Suit Gundam", Garma Zabi is the fourth son of Zeon ruler Degwin Zabi. He is placed in charge of the Earth Attack Force under supervision by his older sister Kycilia.
![]() | Anime Characters |
- Canti . Canti sprouted out from Naota's head in the pointless anime "Furi Kuri". Though the title is a little questionable (it's a Japanese sexual slang term), the anime is pretty good. It's basically about an alien named Haruko Haruhara who drives around a Vespa (motorcycle) and hits things with her guitar to fight this organization called "Medical Mechanica". This anime makes fun of other anime quite a bit. If you like this anime, another one to check out would be "Excel Saga", which is also very funny.

- Gozaburo. From "Yu-Gi-Oh", Seto Kaiba has led a lonely life. His mother died giving birth to Mokuba, his little brother. His father died in a car accident. Gozaburo Kaiba was a cruel foster father and eventually Seto pushed him out the window of his office and killed him.
![]() | Anime Characters |
- Victoria. Ceras (or Celas/Seras/Selas, depending on the translation) Victoria from "Hellsing" was transformed into a vampire by Alucard (who looks a lot like Vash). Integra (Integral) Hellsing is the person in question. Alucard offers several times (half in jest) to transform her into a vampire. In the final episode, the animator allows you to draw your own conclusions. Judging by Integra's facial expression, it appears to me that she accepted his offer.
![]() | Anime Characters |
- Knives. Knives and Vash from "Trigun" were both created using the same material as the electromagnetic plants used on the ships to create life. Vash was a pacifist while Knives was a vengeful killer. They were both ageless and from a species known only as "Those Who Live Outside of Time". The weapons mentioned in the question can expand to form the "Angel Arm", which is a devastating weapon of mass destruction. The "Angel Arm" usually takes on the harmless (for a gun) form of a .45 Long Colt (as mentioned on the side of the gun). Knives' full name is Million Knives... a strange name, but not so strange considering his brother is Vash the Stampede (yes, that's his true name).
![]() | Anime Characters |
- Koji. Kenshin's catch phrase is "de gozaru", which basically means "if you please". Chichiri, the character in question from "Fushigi Yugi", ends his sentences with "no da". Both Chichiri and Koji were voiced by Seki Tomokazu. Seki Tomokazu also voiced Kamui from "X", but that is a different anime.
![]() | Anime Characters |
- Staff. The character in question is Xelloss from "Slayers Next". When he was introduced, he was not working for Beastmaster Zelas (his creator). He was working for Hellmaster Phibrizzo, who had sort of "borrowed" him from Zelas. Xelloss loves to double-cross people and his favorite phrase is "Sore wa himitsu desu!", or "That is a secret!". He rarely gives a straight answer and is known to teleport away to avoid fighting so that Lina can have all the fun.
![]() | Anime Characters |
- No. The character in question is Sesshoumaru from "Inuyasha". Sesshoumaru is a dog demon and the brother of Inuyasha (who is a half-demon). The fuzzy thing slung over his right shoulder IS his tail, as mentioned in an interview with the creator. Inuyasha severed Sesshoumaru's left arm in their first fight, and he can't grow it back. He's sometimes borrowed other arms from demons and once a human with a shard of the Shikon jewel, but he doesn't have a left arm of his own.
![]() | Anime Characters |
- Hokuto. An "onmyouji" is a yin-yang magician or exorcist. The person in question is Subaru Sumeragi from "Tokyo Babylon". He's very powerful, but often has to have Seishirou bail him out (unbeknownst to him). Seishirou often jokes with Hokuto saying he's going to marry Subaru. Subaru is also in "X", but is a lot more sullen than he is in "Tokyo Babylon", which makes you wonder what could have happened to him. Seishirou, incidentally, is also the head of the clan that has sworn to destroy the Sumeragi clan (again, unbeknownst to Subaru).
![]() | Anime Characters |
- Hajime. "Kill Evil Instantly", or "Aku Soku Zan" is the motto of the Shinsengumi from "Rurouni Kenshin". Saitou Hajime is true to that motto even though the Shinsengumi is no more. Remember that in Japanese language, names are reversed. Saitou's alias is Fujita Goro.

- Hayashibara Megumi. If you don't know her name, shame on you. First off, Megumi sings most of the "Slayers" opening and closing theme songs such as "Give a Reason" and "Breeze" as well as other anime theme songs. Where voice acting is concerned, she has played a long list of anime characters including: Faye ("Cowboy Bebop"), Tira Misu ("Sorcerer Hunters"), Haibara Ai ("Detective Conan"), Haruka ("Love Hina"), Lime ("Saber Marionette J"), female Ranma ("Ranma 1/2"), and Ayanami Rei ("Neon Genesis Evangelion").

- Midorikawa Hikaru. Other important roles played by Midorikawa Hikaru include Tokiya ("Flame of Recca"), Zelgadis ("Slayers"), and Heero Yuy ("Gundam Wing").
